Reminiscing a man who loved God until his last breath – Chikku Kuriakose.

Chikku Kuriakose was born on Saturday the 6th of August 1988 as son of Mr and Mrs Kuriakose K.P. His native place was Changanassery. In 2006 he spotted a tumour on this neck and upon further medical investigation it was diagnosed to be Hodgkin Lymphoma1.

This disease is a form of cancer that affects lymph tissues located in lymph nodes, spleen, liver and even bone marrow. It evidently affects the immune system in a serious way. In usual cases the disease manifests as an enlargement of lymph nodes. Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite, loss of body weight, itchy skin. The diagnosis is done with the help of biopsy. Treatment usually includes radiation therapy or chemotherapy. In cases where the diagnosis is early, the disease can be cured, according to American National Institute of Health(NIH)2 .

After diagnosis he underwent treatment and went through tough times in life. He loved Jesus Christ more than anything or anyone. In his own testimonies he had shared that he had supernatural encounter with the power of God, after which he recovered. He was set on fire for the Lord and served as Christian Music Keyboardist, Minister, Worship Leader, Singer and Songwriter3

In my humble opinion, it is difficult for me or anyone for that matter to comprehend and explain every event that occurs in life. Brother Chikku went to be with the Lord whom he loved at the age of 26, on Saturday the 8th November 2014, subsequent to a relapse when the cancer returned. As far as I understand, he never questioned God or His Identity, never blasphemed. He was steadfast and unwavering in his faith until his last breath. He knew his identity in Christ.

I have to admit that when I heard about the passing away of this devout Christian at such a young age, I seriously doubted God and His identity, like a fool (Psalms 14:1 – English / Malayalam). Now as I have personally come to a deeper understanding about God, compared to those days of my life, I look at the life of Chikku Kuriakose and am inspired by him, his life and his songs!. What a blessed life! Life should not be measured by quantity, but quality. His songs and the worship sessions continue to inspire, comfort and encourage thousands and thousands of people even today.

My heart rejoices when I think about Chikku because I have this sense of calmness and assurance in my heart that Brother Chikku is with the Lord whom he loved with all his Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength. May the name of our Lord be blessed.

I don’t know which denomination of church he attended. I don’t know anything more about him nor do I want to know more… I just know that He was a disciple of Jesus Christ and that the only thing that matters.
